Our client, manufacturing high performance, oil and grease-free bearing systems, seals and other shaft line products for the global marine, clean power, pump, aerospace, and industrial markets, is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist.

Location: Burlington

Placement: Permanent

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Set-up CNC and operate various types of CNC machines – Predominantly lathes and mills
  • Read and understand G and M code for CNC programming
  • Upload new programs and download existing programs onto proper media for storage
  • Remove all tools and holders from previous jobs, clean and return to Tool Crib
  • Indicate and align all tools, set all limits, variables, and load monitors
  • Use precision hand tools & measuring devices to check for quality & accuracy
  • Clean & keep work area safe
  • Do regular equipment maintenance
  • Do other duties assigned by Supervisor

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED & college/trade school certificate required
  • Minimum 3 years experience with precision machining in a production environment operating CNC machines such as horizontal and/or vertical lathes and milling machines and or mill/turn machines
  • Must be proficient operating manual mills
  • Experience in the aerospace industry is an asset
  • Experience with AS9100 is an asset
  • Must be familiar with Okuma and Fanuc CNC controls
  • Must have thorough understanding of and be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following:
    o Shop mathematics
    o Tooling
    o G and M code CNC Programming
    o CNC controls (Fanuc and Okuma preferred)
    o Geometric and dimensional tolerancing
  • Ability to use all the available measuring tools such as micrometer, dial gauges, deep micrometer, vernier, measuring block, and height gauges
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and drawings and create layouts
  • Ability to identify wear of cutting tools (inserts, drills, end mills, boring bars, etc.)
  • Ability to change and set cutting tool
